Biography

Mr. McDonald is a native Texan who was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Fort Worth public schools and was graduated from R.L. Paschal High School. At Paschal, Scott was an honor student, an active member of the Spanish and Math Clubs and President of the National Honor Society. After high school, he attended The University of Texas at Austin and was graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors in Plan II; the interdisciplinary honors program whose core curriculum is itself a major. After college, he attended and received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November 1991 and the Oklahoma Bar Association in March 2004. In addition, Scott has been recognized as an AV® Preeminent™ rated attorney, the highest such rating available to any individual lawyer. He also speaks Spanish with near-fluency.

Scott’s practice encompasses over 20 years of experience in business litigation, commercial law, business reorganization, corporation and business transactional law, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy, including extensive bankruptcy litigation. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in business disputes, including contract, business torts, collections, real estate and oil & gas. He also practices in the areas of employment and school law. He has represented debtors and creditors in problem loan situations, business reorganizations and Chapter 11 reorganization, and has represented purchasers of assets from bankrupt estates. He has represented creditors in the defense of preference and fraudulent transfer actions in bankruptcy court. He has successfully represented clients in appeals and appellate proceedings before the Supreme Court of Oklahoma and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Tenth Circuit.

A member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and the American Bankruptcy Institute, Scott is admitted to practice in all Oklahoma and Texas state courts, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Tenth Circuit, the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Oklahoma, and the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern, Western and Eastern Districts of Texas.

Scott has been married to the same wonderful woman for over 20 years and is the proud parent of two teenagers. In his free time, he likes to play his guitar and dream of doing a set with Willie Nelson.
